We’ve been learning about Traditional tales this week and have enjoyed reading Little Red Riding Hood. This afternoon we’ve been looking at ‘sequencing’ our story.

This morning the children made a fantastic start on their Clarice Cliff plates.  They put all of their colour mixing skills to use and began their designs.  

This afternoon the children discussed ways of making a fair test and set about testing which material was the bounciest! They rolled various balls of different materials down the ramps and measured the rebound to determine the winner! 

The children have been building on their knowledge of primary and secondary colours, creating hues of green and experimenting with shades by adding white to their hues. There was some really thoughtful colour placement and shade variation in their work.

Some fantastic builds in Lego club this week. Our build challenge was ‘vehicles’  and we had some wonderfully imaginative creations! 

What better place to have our science lesson, about rubber and the inventor of the tyre, than on our tyre park! The children learnt about Charles Goodyear and John Dunlop, so they may be inspecting your car tyres to see if they can spot either of those names.  

We’ve been exploring block printing in art today.  Using our prior knowledge of primary and secondary colours, we had a go at block printing with Lego! 

We’ve been going back to basics this week and exploring basic sentence structures. The children matched their chosen subjects and verbs and added capital letters and full stops.

We had a great time experimenting in Science Tod. The children chose different materials based on their properties, to cushion the egg as it landed. They were very surprised when the metal bottle tops didn’t crack the egg! 

We have produced some wonderful artwork today.  Focusing on mixing primary colours to create varying shades of secondary colours, the children worked carefully and considerately to complete their pieces . 
 

The children had fun learning about primary and secondary colours this afternoon.  We painted our hands in two primary colours and then rubbed our hands together to watch the magic happen!

We’ve been doing lots of activities this week in our English lessons this week looking at common and proper nouns. The children enjoyed this sorting activity this morning.
