This afternoon we finished our History topic by creating some beautiful pictures of prehistoric cave drawings. These were usually of geometric patterns, animals or people made using charcoal and red ochre.

We looked at photographs of artefacts from the Bronze Age today and found different ways to group them, such as by material, use or shape. We were able to figure out what each object was used for, who knew they used tweezers! 
 

In D&T this afternoon we did some more work on our carp kites.  We talked about the Japanese meaning behind the carp, that of courage and strength and how in Japan the children make them for Children’s Day and  hang them outside their houses. 

Today we had a practical lesson after re reading our story. The children then worked in groups to order the sequence of events from our class read ‘Stuck’.

This lunchtime we did a take on batik, using our wax crayons to create an image that would resist the ensuing paint! The results were beautiful 🤩 

We ended the week with a transition afternoon. Year 2 and 3 created their own backgrounds with watercolour paints then wrote facts about themselves in their neatest writing. It was a lovely way to re introduce ourselves after a year in different classes! These will make a lovely display in our…

The children enjoyed a lovely music session with the fabulously talented Mrs Rock this morning.  They focused on finding the beat, copying rhythm and recognising then beating out the syllables in their names.

We were extremely fortunate in ‘show and tell’ this afternoon as Louis brought in a real antler found on Cannock Chase.  The children were enthralled to learn all about deer and to be able to touch a real antler! 

Wow! What a close contest we had this afternoon when we were joined by St. Mary’s and All Saints for the KS1 Spelling Bee. All the children were fantastic but Class 2 managed to beat the competition and win the trophy! Incredible amounts of hard work, courage and composure culminated in an Anson…
