This afternoon, after such an amazing week in class, Class 1 enjoyed their afternoon snack on the grass in the shade and then had a bonus treat of working together to complete the trim trail. All the children worked well to help and encourage each other and enjoyed showing Mrs Philp their skills!

Labelling and exploring
This afternoon with one of our parent helpers, we had a quick tidy up of the outdoor classroom, weeding, labelling the vegetable beds and watering. We also found quite a lot of minibeasts enjoying our outdoor space!
Turner skies
Wow! The children have been exploring colour mixing and adding black and white to experiment with tone and shade. They produced some thoughtful and dramatic skies, inspired by the work of William Turner.
Stained glass window creations
In RE this week, we continued to explore churches. We looked at lots of different churches around the world and saw how they can vary in size and design. We spoke about how important churches are to Christians and discussed what different types of celebrations we have been to in church.

Visualising a character
We have just read about a terrifying creature in our Iron Man story, the Space-Bat-Angel-Dragon. During our Whole Class Reading session today, we used our visualisation skills to draw what we imagine the creature to look like, using evidence from the text.
That’s not my rocket!
The children tested their sense of touch today as they felt different fabrics and tried to match them to the ones on our feely board. Then we took our learning outside and described why ‘that’s not my rocket’ as we found different materials to make its body out of.
Sikhi meditation
The children had a wonderfully calming R.E. Lesson this afternoon, learning all about the importance of meditation in the Sikhi faith.
Watercolour wash
In art, we have been learning how to create a watercolour wash to look like water. We used our big brushes for this and thought hard about the shadows.
We then added a detailed tree into our picture using a small brush.
We did lots of colour mixing in our palette.
Colour wheels
We’ve been learning all about primary and secondary colours this afternoon. We painted our colour wheels, mixing our own secondary colours!
Our visit to explore St Stephens
This afternoon, Class 1 had such a lovely visit to St Stephen’s. Father Neale kindly showed us all the different features of a church and showed us what happens at the altar and font during some services. We also got to sit in the pews where our grown ups normally sit.
Father Neale also…
Caring for our plants
With all of the warm, sunny and dry weather we have had recently, it is important we water our newly planted fruit and vegetables.
