This week to finish our RE topic finding out why Christians put a cross in an Easter garden, we have heard the story of the Easter weekend and found out why Easter Sunday is such an exciting time for Christians.

This week in computing, we have been using closed questions with an answer of only ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to sort objects using a branching database. We practised with different objects such as food or plants. Our challenge was to sort at least 8 dinosaurs, we had to look very carefully at their features…

This week in maths, Class 1 have been finding out about 3D Shapes. We have found out their different names and talked about each shape’s distinct properties. We have printed with the shapes onto an Easter egg template to find out the different 2D shapes they make.

A huge well done to every member of Class 3 who put on a spectacular performance of their play on Monday and again twice on Tuesday! You sang beautifully and made everyone so proud, great acting Class 3! 
 

In Science, we have been learning about the parts of the hand. We used this knowledge to create our own bionic hands which we created from cardboard, string, elastic bands and straws. 

Some of our hands worked well to pick up objects. We had lots of fun creating them. 

We have continued to disassemble our Greenpower cars. We have completely removed the seat, parts of the chassis and the roll bar. Now they are ready to be built back together again.

Our year 5 pupils have made cardboard prototypes of the vehicle.

Today, we learnt how and why a battery works. We then had a go at making our own cells and batteries using lemons. We managed to power small LED lights.

The children worked extremely hard this afternoon making their models.  They designed, selected appropriate materials and built them with little intervention. From seesaws to swings, slides, tunnels and monkey bars, their creations were fantastic!

Today a specialist football coach came in to work with just the Class 3 girls. They played lots of different games whilst developing their passing and dribbling skills. 

Today, our year 5 and 6 girls took part in another football session with Mrs Dean.
