Similes and metaphors
Whilst studying different poetry skills this week, we have looked at the use of similes and ,metaphors. We had a go at describing ourselves using these 2 skills. Can you guess which child each short poem is describing?
French weather reports
The children have worked together in French to write their weather report. They chose a city from the map of France and used a model to prepare their weather forecast, practising the weather expressions they have been learning this half term. Super work, Bon travail!
Looking after our grounds
Inspired by David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday celebrations, we went outside to care for our planet by litter picking the field and watering the crops.
Maths: Money
Today some children started work with Money in Maths. We used replica coins to count how much we had in total for each question, then found different ways to make the same amount.
Creating a questionnaire
During our Geography lesson, we worked in table groups to come up with a list of amenities we think our village lacks. We have created a questionnaire to complete at home, to ask other people to give their opinion. We will use the results next week to create a new sketch map of Great Haywood,…
Labelling and exploring
This afternoon with one of our parent helpers, we had a quick tidy up of the outdoor classroom, weeding, labelling the vegetable beds and watering. We also found quite a lot of minibeasts enjoying our outdoor space!
Visualising a character
We have just read about a terrifying creature in our Iron Man story, the Space-Bat-Angel-Dragon. During our Whole Class Reading session today, we used our visualisation skills to draw what we imagine the creature to look like, using evidence from the text.
Caring for our plants
With all of the warm, sunny and dry weather we have had recently, it is important we water our newly planted fruit and vegetables.
Enjoying the sunshine
Today we had our afternoon brain break outside on the Trim Trail, to make the most of this beautiful weather.
Class Worship
Our school value this half term is ‘compassion’. We talked about how St Maximilian Kolbe showed this during his life helping the poor and sick. We also shared two Bible stories showing compassion; The Good Samaritan and Jesus helps the leper.
Planting 2026
Before the rain started, we enjoyed planting new vegetables in their new beds. We carried on with this on Friday morning when the weather was better! We are looking forward to watching them grow and harvesting to use with our school meals.
Traffic survey
Our Geography topic this half term is a local study, so this morning we completed a transport survey of how people travel to Great Haywood.
