Our topic in English this term is ‘Bold Women in Black History’. We will be learning about lots of inspirational Black women in world history. We will use our knowledge to create biographies and fact files on these extraordinary women. Today we learnt about the famous American sprinter Wilma Rudolph who contracted polio aged 4. The disease paralysed her left leg and she wore a metal leg brace. Despite this, she went on to pursue a successful sporting career, becoming the first American to win three gold medal stars in one single Olympics. The children have shown great enthusiasm and interest already and we can’t wait to see how this develop into their writing over the next few weeks. Well done Class 2!
