We have had a terrific time at Tamworth Castle. We had a tour of the castle and a close view of the Staffordshire Hoard. We saw how the castle had changed over time as we wandered through the rooms. We dressed as Saxon warriors and imagined an enemy tribe approaching as we took in the view from the top of the tower.

We also took part in a workshop, becoming archaeologists. We had to use tools to dig for hidden items and sorted them by whether they were Saxon, Viking, Victorian or modern. We learnt lots of facts about the materials the Saxons used.

After lunch we learnt more about the life of Saxon soldiers, dressing up in their heavy armour and comparing to ordinary rich/poor Saxon clothing.

The childrens behaviour was outstanding, they were a credit to Anson and their families.
