We have explored British Science Week in Class 3. This year the theme is Change and Adapt which we thought carefully about. We created posters to enter into a competition.  

We have started writing our own pieces of music and have been busy rehearsing. We know lots about crochets and minims. 
 

Today we tested out our baking skills. We are getting very good at measuring and mixing. We were pleased with how our cupcakes worked out - yummy! 

We have had lots of fun learning our times tables outside in the sunshine today. Lots of fun catching games are helping us to remember our times table facts. 

Class 3 are thrilled with their finished pastel pieces. We have been developing our skill throughout this unit with techniques such as smudging, blending and dotting. We have then taken inspiration from other artists to create our own masterpieces. To complete this unit, we self and peer-assessed…

We have taken part in Internet Safety Day by joining the BBC live lesson. We explored how to identify scammers and avoid them. The children listened with great care. 

We have been investigating how far sound can travel. We used the Sound Meter App to record the decibels of a sound at different distances from the sound source.

Today we investigated pitch and volume using different objects. We used a ruler, bottles with varying amounts of water in and straws. We used our sound Data Logger on the iPad to collect the data.  

We have been investigating sound in Science. We understand that sound is created by vibrations. We created some cup and string devices and measured the sound using a Data Logger. We know that sound is measured in decibels (DB). 

We have been experimenting with oil and chalk pastel techniques. We have used tissue paper, ear buds, our fingers and layering over the top. We have thought carefully about colour families. 

We enjoyed reading our class read today. The children also volunteered to read aloud to each other. We can’t wait to continue reading James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. 

We have been exploring how sound is made and thinking about the vibrations that make the sound. We observed vibrations by seeing rice dance on a drum. We also listened to the changes in our voices through talking through a balloon. We had lots of fun with all of these…
