Painting at the Canal

Times Table Tournament
Class 3 have been working hard in a Times Table Rock Stars tournament this weekend.
We have 3 winners - well done! Great times table work!
Watercolour wash
In art, we have been learning how to create a watercolour wash to look like water. We used our big brushes for this and thought hard about the shadows.
We then added a detailed tree into our picture using a small brush.
We did lots of colour mixing in our palette.
Watercolours in Art
Today we started our Art and Design unit today using watercolours. We explored primary and secondary colours with some colour mixing. We then looked at tints and shades and created lighter and darker colours.
Bionic Hands
In Science, we have been learning about the parts of the hand. We used this knowledge to create our own bionic hands which we created from cardboard, string, elastic bands and straws.
Some of our hands worked well to pick up objects. We had lots of fun creating them.
Sketching our Church
In Art, we have applied our skills to sketch our church. We thought hard about proportion as well as light and shade. We used a range of pencil types to create our artwork.
Sketching in Art and Design
We have started our new Art and Design unit on Sketching.
Today we experimented with creating effects using different techniques. We used a range of pencils to see what effect they made too.
Children's Mental Health Week 2026
The theme for Children's Mental Health Week 2026 is 'This is My Place', and the aim is to support the systems around children and young people to help them feel they belong.
Each child in class 3 shared how they feel they belong. They then designed a card all about them explaining the things…
Circuits with Switches
In Science, we have been learning about insulators and conductors. We investigated materials in a circuit, such as wood, copper, foil and glass. We then created our own switches using materials we knew were conductors. We were really pleased when the bulb lit up.
Investigating Electricity
We have been learning about electricity. We created our own circuits and understand that in order for electricity to flow, there can't be a break in the circuit. We explored this by creating a human circuit which lit up our energy stick. We were very impressed.
Gymnastics
Class 3 have loved starting their gymnastics lessons today. Lots of floor work was covered. They will transfer their skills to apparatus soon.
Class 3 at Young Voices
